Piano Lesson

What you need to know!

I have a real passion for music and would love to help you improve your skills or to start you on your musical journey. It is never too late!  Associated Board and Trinity College exam work or just learn to play for fun.  A relaxed a friendly environment tuned to the individual student. All ages welcome.

Lessons should be fun! It is so important that my students look forward to their lessons and that they have a clear understanding of the goals they wish to achieve.

Do I need my own instrument?

It is important to have an instrument at home to practise on. If you would like advice on buying your first instrument or require details for flute servicing/piano tuning, please contact me and I will be happy to help you. Practising at home between lessons is so important. Your progression will be so much faster and it will help you to achieve your full potential.

Will I need to learn Theory of Music?

I encourage all students to study Theory of Music either as part of their practical lesson, separate private theory lessons or to join one of my theory group classes. Theory is the basis of all music and without it, we struggle to fully understand the music we are playing. Grade 5 Theory is also a requirement for anyone wishing to enter the higher grade practical examinations.

How long are lessons?

Lesson duration is generally 1 hour. Lessons can be either Practical playing only or to incorporate theory lesson. I offer group theory classes for extra study and discussion nearer to exam dates. If you require shorter or longer lessons, please contact me to discuss your requirements and available times.
